Luxury Home Magazine features a one on one with Donald Trump in beautiful Seattle, WA.
Seattle, WA --- January 7, 2011 --- Luxury Home Magazine of Seattle is featuring Donald Trump’s luxurious personal estate on the cover of issue 4.6. With his home now on the market for $12,000,000, Trump takes time out of his busy schedule to sit down with us and have a one on one discussion about everything from the current real estate market to his personal life. We appreciate the time he spent with us… LHM: As we near 2011, what changes do you see happening regarding real estate lending and transacting? Trump: I think we’ll see a gradual improvement in both transactions and lending. The stalemate is easing up and let’s hope it continues that way. LHM: Any new projects that you are really excited about that are starting in 2011 that you can tell us about? Trump: The new Celebrity Apprentice will be the best one yet. We have a fantastic cast and it’s terrific. My golf links course in Scotland is moving forward quickly, and as it’s still in development, it is like a new project. Trump International Golf Links Scotland is going to be sensational and it will be the best golf links course in the world. The Trump Hotel Collection has two hotels due to open in 2011 in Panama City and Toronto. I’m very excited about what we have going on, and we also have some projects in the works right now that I can’t talk about yet. LHM: When do you think the lending institutions will be cleared up and the funding will go back to normal? Trump: I wish I knew. I think they know they’ve got to let up and sooner rather than later would be a help. LHM: Out of all the developments you have built which one is your favorite and why? Trump: Trump Tower was the first building with my name on it, and it’s become a landmark in the city. Millions of people pass through. It’s a beautiful building, still as beautiful as when it opened in 1983. I’m very proud of it. LHM: What kind of advice would you offer to our readers who own multi-million dollar estates and want to sell right now? What should they look for in a real estate agent? Trump: There are people who are looking for multimillion dollar estates. You can still do well, especially if the property is special in some way, a way that would appeal to a certain buyer. I sold an estate in Palm Beach for a record $100 million in 2008, when the market was very difficult. I’d try to find an experienced agent who has a positive outlook and has your best interests in mind. While Trump confirms that the banks and the money system “are a mess,” he shares the optimism that things will loosen up before long. The main thing, he believes, is to maintain your passion. “Without that, you won’t succeed on a big level. It’s passion that can get you through the hard times.” But are these “hard times” for high-end properties? Not in Trump’s book. “There are people who are looking for multimillion dollar estates. You can still do well [selling], especially if the property is special in a way that appeals to a certain buyer.” LHM: Looking back at all of your accomplishments—do you have any regrets or wish you would have done anything differently? Trump: No, no regrets. Even my mistakes became great learning tools. LHM: What has been your finest hour, most rewarding memory/experience throughout your career? Trump: As I mentioned, the success of Trump Tower meant a great deal to me. The success of The Apprentice was a wonderful surprise and its longevity has not only been rewarding but great for brand recognition worldwide. Having a great time and doing well as the host on Saturday Night Live is another memory that stays with me. Finishing Wollman Skating Rink under budget and earlier than expected was a great feeling, as it was a gift to the city. I have a lot of wonderful memories. LHM: What advice can you offer entrepreneurs starting out today? Trump: Know what you’re doing. Know that it’s not a group effort, at least until you get something going yourself. Be prepared to go it alone. Don’t give up, never give up. LHM: Would you consider developing in the Seattle area? Trump: It’s a possibility; it’s a very beautiful area. LHM: What investing/real estate advice would you give our college graduates as they go out into the business world? Trump: Do your research, know what you’re doing. Keep your focus and have passion for what you’re doing. If you don’t have passion for it, you won’t succeed on a big level. It’s passion that can get you through the hard times. Trump: I’ve been considering it, as I’ve said. ON A PERSONAL NOTE: LHM: Looking at your family’s busy calendar of events all through 2010, what are you and your family doing to relax and enjoy the holiday season? Any special traditions you can share? Trump: We spend the holidays at my Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. That is a holiday tradition. The whole family is there and it’s a wonderful time for everyone. We do the usual festivities, dinner, a tree, gifts, and so forth. I also get to golf, as Trump International Golf Club is nearby. LHM: What is little Barron asking for Christmas? Trump: He likes trucks and cars and airplanes. Toy size for now. LHM: What are your favorite foods, restaurants and place to vacation? Trump: In the city, I like Trump Grill in Trump Tower, Jean Georges, the 21 Club, and Le Cirque to name a few. My favorite place to vacation is Mar-a-Lago. I like a lot of different foods, and have a variety in my diet. To find out more about Donald Trump’s grand estate on the market visit Luxury Home Magazine of Seattle or Luxury Home Magazine Blog.
