Originally from Cambodia, her family experienced the Khmer Rouge Communist Regime in the late 70s. They were held captive 2 years in a concentration camp under Pol Pot, the Red Khmer Regime.

In 1979, Sunny’s father led the family into breaking free from the camp, and they never looked back. They traversed the jungle and found themselves at the Thailand border.

As her father was a French professor, he wrote to the French Ambassy for help, which allowed the family to migrate to Strasbourg in France and later moved to Paris France in 1985, where her parents opened a restaurant on the Champs Elysees Boulevard. It took years of hard work as refugees in France to start a business that is thriving to date. Sunny’s parents instilled in her & her siblings the core values of perseverance, hard work, a positive attitude, and working together as a family.

Traversing different countries also meant that they learned new languages. In addition to English, Sunny fluently speak Cambodian, and French, studied Italian, German & Mandarin. While living in Paris, she graduated with an International Trade degree from the “Ecole National de Commerce de Paris”. And shortly after graduating, she met her American husband, who lived there for couple years, they got married in 1996 and moved to Charlotte North Carolina where he grew up.

Sunny and her husband started investing in real estate by buying tracts of land in the Charlotte area. As real estate investors, they built a portfolio of investment properties and established Yates Development LLC, a commercial development company.

Shortly afterward, they relocated to the Cornelius, Lake Norman area, launched Yates Realty and went full time selling Real Estate.

Real estate has become a passion as they enjoy every facet of the business. After selling real estate for the past 20 years, Sunny utilizes her abilities and expertise to guide clients to navigate thru the buying & selling transaction seamlessly.

As a Real Estate Agent, she is extremely patient and resourceful and help solve any problems that may arise. She does not consider herself a salesperson; she is more of a confidant, an advisor guiding and helping clients, family & friends make the best possible real estate investment decisions.

Sunny & her team constantly research & invest in cutting edge technologies to be more efficient for their clients. But above all else, winning and earning their clients’ trust is their number 1 priority! In her spare time, she enjoys simple & healthy cooking, working out to stay healthy and fit so she is able to care for her family & friends.

Sunday morning church worship time is a must for the Yates family, it keeps them grounded to the most important thing in life, their Faith in Jesus Christ.

Sunny is a wife to a marvelous husband, they celebrated their 26th Anniversary in May 2022! Sunny is also a mother to 3 incredibly smart, responsible, and kind children - 2 boys, Logan and Jayden and a girl, Asia.

After traveling & visiting many countries, Sunny absolutely Loves living in the Lake Norman & Charlotte North Carolina area, there is no other place she would rather be!
