Luxury Palm Beach Home and Places

Conscious Design with Mary • Widmer

Mary Widmer, the driving force behind the Mary • Widmer Luxury Collection, is a passionate perfectionist in all areas of development and design of her custom homes. During the design process, Mary considers many details: spatial relationships, artistic direction, interior design details, exterior and landscape designs, to create synergy between all aspects of her custom estates.

Each home is customized to its environment and location. She develops a unique home each and every time. When asked what came first, the design theme or the floor plan, she believes they develop together into a synergist whole, similar to the developmental process of a work of art.

Mary’s current projects, featured here, are a departure from what is typically found in the south Florida real estate market.

899 Enfield Street, featured on our cover, is a contemporary coastal chic with a twist. Typically, modern design themes include mostly rectangular elements. In this design, round elements abound, which give this home strength in its presence and compelling visual interest.

Located at the end of a cul-de-sac, creating a “wow” factor entry was achieved by the concentric circle shell infused driveway leading to the commanding entrance. The entrance has 9 foot, double entry doors surrounded by glass transoms and sidelights. Vintage Ironworks manufactured her custom design with hurricane impact rated specifications. As the owner and their guests enter, the stability and strength compliment the feeling of sanctuary and safety supplied with these substantial doors.

Incorporating light and life is crucial to the overall design. One of her signature design elements in the office is to use strategically placed windows as the backdrop of custom cabinetry. This strategy allows natural light into the space, allowing the owners’ objet d’arts to shine and providing an executive an oasis within which to work.

The main level master suite is one of Mary’s favorite rooms. As the owner will discover, there is easy access to the infinity edge salt water spa and pool, the boat docks, and the “beachy” destination spot, complete with sand, shells and fire pit. This beach is a wonderful location to watch the sunrise or sunset reflection.

All finishes are inspired by the elements surrounding the home, in this case, water. The color palette used throughout is a contemporary, cool, coastal chic.  The living room is fashioned after a Grand Salon on a yacht, with an artful design of wood and marble combined to ground the space.

863 Enfield Street has a more vibrant color palette, keeping with the coastal contemporary theme. Mary used deeper hues of blues and teals, incorporating jewel tones of the blues found in our gorgeous south Florida water, and used chrome to keep it modern, young, and hip.

One of Mary’s favorite aspects of this house is the abundance of water seen upon entering the home. The water theme also carries over to the master bathroom shower, and is one of the largest showers she has ever built to date.

Mary is very excited about her next project in Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club, in for permits now. This luxury waterfront property, with 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms, will be located on West Key Palm Road on the Fishtail Palm Waterway, and will sit directly across from the renovated yacht clubhouse and marina.
