Transitions: Before & After

As South Florida grew in popularity towards the end of the last century, the most luxurious estates were predominantly Mediterranean style architecture. In the last fifteen years, we’ve seen an influx of new architectural design trends. As styles evolve, and land and inventory are scarce, many buyers are reconsidering a renovation of an existing home.

Here, we explore two transformations in Frenchman’s Creek. These homes were originally built in the late ‘80s to early ‘90s, now completely renovated, creating an fresh transitional and open floor plan style.

3651 Toulouse (above) was originally built in 1990. Missy McCloskey, with Douglas Elliman, secured the property and coordinated the renovation. Updates included front elevation changes, new roof, impact windows, removing walls, new floors, kitchens, bathroom, pool refinishing and pool deck. This home was purchased for $430,500 and sold 18 months later for $1,775,000.

13330 Deauville was originally built in 1988. Scott Handler, of Dreamstar Custom Homes, and Douglas Elliman, gutted the property, removed a kitchen wall, relocated and resized the island to provide more storage and a casual gathering area. Other updates include new windows, front door, covered loggia with retractable screens, summer kitchen, floors, bathrooms, ceiling, pool refinishing, new paver patio and front drive. Purchased for $587,500 and most recently closed at $2,150,000.
