Sophisticated Waterfront Renovation

The original home, just under 9000 SF, needed a loving restoration. A lot of money had been put into the initial design of the home, but upkeep and style had been deferred. The project required the home to be taken down to the studs, repairs made, plumbing and walls relocated. The exterior of the home was also re-textured, received a fresh coast of stucco, the deck was expanded, and an outdoor kitchen was created. On this project, designer Cyrilla Yanez handled everything for the client: created the drawings, layout and hired and managed the contractors.

The project took approximately 9 months and was completed in February 2021. The end result? A sophisticated and welcoming refuge for its owners.

In the living room, the previous owners had a Henry Russo painting recreated onto the wall as a mural. This design element was left intact and became the inspiration piece for the décor. Sofas and chairs by Wesley Hall, print ottoman style coffee table: fabric by Schumacher, piece by Mr. & Mrs. Howard for Sherill Furniture.

In the original home, the dining room was just off the front door. Cyrilla relocated the bar to this room, and the dining area is now located where a floor to ceiling bar used to stand. She wanted to create a focal point and introduce another color that worked with the mural. Barstools by Eloquence, bronze sparkle wallpaper by Phillip Jeffries ties in with the bar hardware. The counter, island waterfall and wall treatment are all Cultiva Azul Macauba Porcelain slabs.

Kitchen cabinetry and Island by Poggenpohl, with motorized hardware cabinetry. Backsplash is a crackled hand made ceramic tile “Ekto” from AKDO. Kitchen counters are porcelain; slim profile chosen to compliment the sleekness of the cabinetry and to offset the profile of the island. Flooring is porcelain with a bleached wood look, “Mansion” by AKDO.

In the family room, the fireplace wall was recreated with a contemporary gas fire insert and clad in bookended porcelain slab. Ceiling is pecky cypress. Sofas, chair & ottoman are Wesley Hall. Bookshelves by Eloquence. Local artist Julie Silk Beaumont (Tequesta) created the blue painting.

The owners’ suite entrance showcases beautiful artwork they have collected. Ship lap adds a nod to our coastal lifestyle. Bedding by Matouk, chaise by Caracole, king bed and side tables by Mr. & Mrs. Howards of Sherill Furniture.
