Q1: Mauricco, your artwork is often described as “transcendent and deeply connected to the human spirit”. How does your personal approach to wellbeing influence your creative process?

Mauricco: My art and my lifestyle are inseparable—they reflect and fuel each other. For me, wellbeing is about creating a balance in life, and that balance directly translates into my creative process. Eating organic food nourishes my body and keeps my mind clear, while spending time in nature provides endless inspiration for my work. Running in the mountains or swimming in cold water sharpens my senses and connects me with the raw energy of life, which I try to channel into my art. Meditation allows me to quiet the noise and access deeper layers of creativity. Every brushstroke carries the essence of this holistic practice.

Q2: Many believe that art has the power to heal. How do you see the relationship between art and wellbeing?

Mauricco: Art is a universal language that speaks to the soul. It has the ability to soothe, inspire, and transform. For me, creating art is like a meditation; it’s a process of channeling energy into something tangible that resonates with others. Similarly, when someone connects with a piece of art, it can evoke emotions, memories, or a sense of peace.

Art, much like nature or a deep breath, brings us into the present moment. That’s why I believe art belongs in spaces where people live, work, and heal—it enhances the environment, uplifts the spirit, and promotes harmony. My goal is always to create pieces that embody positivity and elevate the energy of the space they occupy.

Q3: How does spending time outdoors inspire your work?

Mauricco: Nature is my greatest teacher and my sanctuary. When I’m running through mountain trails or meditating by a river, I feel completely aligned with something greater than myself. The colors, textures, and patterns in nature often find their way into my work—sometimes consciously, sometimes subconsciously.

The energy of being outdoors, whether it’s the stillness of a forest or the invigorating chill of cold water, fuels my creativity. It reminds me that art, like nature, is limitless and ever evolving. I think of my creations as reflections of the beauty and rhythm of the natural world.

Q4: Meditation seems to be an essential part of your life. How does it influence your creativity?

Mauricco: Meditation is where everything begins for me. It’s the bridge between my inner world and the canvas. In those quiet moments, I can visualize concepts and emotions that later take form in my art. It’s also a practice of letting go of expectations, fears, or anything that might block the creative flow.

When I meditate, I often focus on light, energy, or specific intentions. This is where many of my ideas are born, as I imagine how they might translate visually. Meditation gives me clarity, focus, and a sense of purpose in everything I create.

Q5: How do your daily practices, like choosing organic food and swimming in cold water, influence your overall wellbeing and artistic journey?

Mauricco: They are the foundation of everything I do. I am vegan and eating organic, wholesome food is not just about physical health; it’s about respecting the body as an instrument for creativity. I view it as fueling myself with the purest energy possible so I can give my best to my art and life.

Swimming in cold water is another ritual that keeps me grounded and energized. It’s invigorating, challenging, and humbling—like a reset button for the mind and body. These practices aren’t just habits; they’re commitments to living with intention, which reflects directly in my work.

Q6: What message do you hope to convey to those who experience your art?
Mauricco: My message is one of connection—to oneself, to the world, and to something greater. I want my art to remind people of the beauty, harmony, and endless potential within and around them. Each piece is a conversation, an invitation to pause, reflect, and feel inspired.

I also hope to encourage others to embrace creativity and holistic living in their own way. Whether through art, nature, or simple daily rituals, we all have the capacity to cultivate wellbeing and make life more meaningful.

Q7: Can you walk us through your creative process?

Mauricco: Every piece begins as a feeling or a vision that comes to me during meditation, a walk in nature, or even moments of stillness. I take these inspirations and let them simmer, often sketching or jotting down ideas to capture the essence.

When I approach the canvas, it’s like starting a dialogue with the unknown. I trust the process and allow the piece to evolve organically. Colors, patterns, and forms flow intuitively as I channel the energy and intention behind the idea. The goal is always to create something that resonates deeply, not just visually but emotionally and energetically.

Q8: How do you think art impacts mental and emotional wellbeing?

Mauricco: Art has a profound effect on the human psyche. It can evoke joy, calm, or even catharsis, depending on the intention behind it and how it’s experienced. Surrounding ourselves with art that resonates with us can create a sanctuary—a space that nurtures and inspires.

For me, creating art is therapeutic, and I know it can be the same for those who experience it. Whether through the vibrancy of color, the symmetry of patterns, or the symbolism in the work, art has the power to heal and uplift. It’s a universal way to reconnect with our emotions and find balance.

Q9: How does color theory play a role in your work?

Mauricco: Colors have their own language and energy. When I create, I think about how each color interacts and what emotions or vibrations it brings. For example, blues and greens often represent calmness and renewal, while golds and reds evoke warmth and vitality.

I aim to use color intentionally, creating compositions that not only captivate the eyes but also influence the spirit. My art is designed to shift energy in a space, making it feel alive, balanced, or serene, depending on what’s needed.

Q10: People often feel disconnected from creativity. How do you encourage others to reconnect with their artistic side?

Mauricco: I believe everyone is inherently creative, but societal pressures or self-doubt often block that flow. Reconnecting with creativity starts with letting go of perfectionism and embracing playfulness. It doesn’t have to be about painting or creating something tangible—it could be dancing, cooking, or simply daydreaming.

Artistic expression isn’t about the result; it’s about the journey. I often encourage people to start small and allow themselves to explore without judgment. Over time, this practice becomes a source of joy and selfdiscovery.

Q11: Do you have advice for creating a living space that fosters both art and wellbeing?
Mauricco: Absolutely. The environment we live in has a significant impact on our mood, energy, and overall wellbeing. Incorporating art into your space is one of the most eRective ways to create a harmonious and inspiring atmosphere.

Choose pieces that resonate with you emotionally—art that makes you feel something profound or uplifting. Pair them with natural elements like plants, calming lighting, and textures that bring warmth. A space that blends art and nature becomes a sanctuary for the soul, encouraging peace and creativity.

Q12: You mentioned art as a form of energy. Can you elaborate on how you infuse your work with positive energy?

Mauricco: Every piece I create is imbued with intention. Before I begin, I meditate and set a clear purpose for the work, whether it’s to inspire, heal, or bring joy. The act of creation itself is a meditative process, where I’m fully present and channeling positive energy into the canvas.

I also pay attention to balance and flow in my compositions, as these elements carry their own subtle vibrations. My hope is that when someone looks at my work, they feel the energy and intention behind it—something uplifting and transformative.

Q13: How do you envision the role of art in future wellbeing practices?

Mauricco: I believe art will become an integral part of holistic wellness. As people seek deeper connections and ways to enhance their mental health, art will play a more prominent role in therapeutic spaces, homes, and even workplaces.

We’re already seeing how art therapy helps individuals process emotions and find peace. But beyond therapy, surrounding ourselves with intentional art can create environments that support mindfulness, creativity, and emotional balance. I hope to contribute to this evolution by continuing to create art that bridges the gap between aesthetics and wellbeing.
