The annual Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show House is one of the area’s most adored design events, and 2026 proved to be no exception. This year, the program expanded across two properties in West Palm Beach, offering even more room to inspire aesthetes of all kinds in clever ways. Here, you’ll find six decorating concepts that are sure to spark major trends in the world of interiors this year, all while supporting Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club and Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.
Sensational Ceilings
The fifth wall received some much deserved design attention across the Show Houses. Several design teams stood out for their use of the ceiling as a destination for one-of-a-kind art installations. BAMO, Inc’s sunroom features an articulated slatted ceiling that plays with light and shadow to create a transportive ambiance; Wecselman Design’s Great Room features sweeping hand-blown glass. However, we also loved subdued ceiling dressing: The Lewis Gallo Design Group’s featured painted bamboo molding and the Eerdmans’ fifth wall juxtaposed a suzani-inspired wall fabric with a dreamy blue ceiling hue.

Unabashed Use of Passementerie
In a world of two-day shipping and dupes galore, nothing says luxury in design quite like craftsmanship. The use of tassels, fringe, skirting, and more take beautiful rooms to the next level, as showcased in Tartan & Toile’s entertainment command center and powder bath, as well as Alexander Interiors’ hall and bath designs. The ultra-feminine draperies, tassels, and tiebacks — as well as Alexander Interiors’ skirted vanity — all add layered elements of yesteryear luxury. However, Kate Ives Design leaned into this trend in her own way, using scalloped bed draperies to bring a dramatic visual effect while sticking with a neutral color palette.

Ritual Spaces
Several rooms excelled at linking form and function. LTA Interiors’ Mahjong Lounge offers a distinct purpose and point of view to what could have been an overlooked secondary gathering space; Tartan & Toile’s party planning HQ shows that even underutilized or oddly shaped rooms can become ever-important hubs for hobbies and activities. In terms of the outdoors, Bell Design created a paradisal wellness destination thanks to a chic three-person Kohler sauna, juice bar, and plenty of lush, verdant greenery. River Brook’s Tiki Tent is a marriage of the two, giving this outdoor room an interiors-level treatment with elevated tenting, unique furniture silhouettes and surreal artwork. It’s the chicest at-home cocktail hour in town.

Draperies Take Center Stage
In line with the return to craftsmanship, draperies took the spotlight throughout this year’s Show Houses. Danielle Balanis pattern-drenched a bedroom in a stunning Lee Jofa Oscar de la Renta floral and featured matching draperies creating a warm intimacy. The Lewis Gallo Design Group layered the main home’s sunroom with traditional patterned curtains, tassel-adorned pelmets, and roman shades to control sun exposure and privacy in this light-drenched space.

Swoon-Worthy Wallcoverings
The power of wallcoverings to transform a space and transport inhabitants to new worlds were on full display. Lisa Erdmann’s Mustique-inspired sitting room brings the outdoors in, ushering island flair with Brunschwig & Fils’ Nouvelle paper. A classic floral Colefax & Fowler wallcovering in Justin P. Moreland’s entry offers a delightful layered element with a delicate embroidery that pairs swimmingly with the painted trim and ceiling. Lori Morris goes all-in on gilded glamour with a pastoral scene by Paul Montgomery’s The Mural Source.

Statement-Making Stone
Materiality had a strong presence this year with an abundance of striking stone counters and floors throughout. The beautiful pink marble by Calia Stone in River Brook’s tiki bar adds convivial cool, while Sire Design’s feminine dressing suite is balanced out by a dramatic black Primestones countertop. Firefinish leaned into a modern geometric pattern from Artistic Tile to adorn the floor and walls, creating a joyful sanctuary. Finally, Steven Walsh leaned into plaster and black marble from ARCA setting up a sophisticated, sensory bath experience.
