When Palm Beach interior designer Alexandra Naranjo designs a home, she approaches it like a skilled Jenga player—carefully balancing sophistication and personality. Splitting her time between Palm Beach and Toronto, the founder of Alexandra Naranjo Design is known for creating luxury residential interiors that blend timeless elegance with expressive color, rich texture, and custom details. Her high-end interior design projects feel thoughtfully collected rather than simply decorated, resulting in homes that are both refined and deeply personal. Most importantly, she is never afraid to bring a sense of fun into every space.

With a design philosophy rooted in emotion and storytelling, Naranjo believes the best homes should reflect their inhabitants. Whether drawing inspiration from Palm Beach’s relaxed glamour or Toronto’s tailored architecture, her work exudes refinement and warmth. We took a moment with Alexandra to talk about color, craftsmanship, and how to find the soul in interiors.

Q. What was your first impression of the condo when you saw it for the first time?
Stepping into the condo from Worth Avenue, I knew I had to design something special. The first thing that struck me was the incredible natural light and the potential for the space to feel both glamorous and intimate at the same time. It had beautiful bones, but it needed to reflect our client’s sophisticated personality.
Q. What was the overall vision or mood you wanted this home to capture?
We wanted the home to feel like a sophisticated jewel box — polished and luxurious, but still vibrant and welcoming. The vision was to create something layered, elegant, and slightly theatrical, while still feeling deeply livable.

Q. This project feels both playful and sophisticated. How did you strike that balance?
It really came down to contrast. We paired refined architectural details and luxurious finishes with bold color moments, sculptural forms, and playful patterns. The key is always editing carefully so the space feels intentional rather than overwhelming.
Q. Color and pattern play such a major role in this space. Where did you begin when building the palette?
We started with emotion rather than a fixed color scheme. We wanted the home to feel fresh, energetic, and glamorous, so we built the palette around layered tones that felt uplifting but sophisticated. From there, we introduced patterns and textures that added rhythm and personality throughout the condo.
Q. Do you have a favorite detail or vignette in the condo?
I love the moments where all the layers come together — the custom millwork against the high gloss finishes, the interplay of texture and pattern, and the way the light moves through the space throughout the day. But if I had to choose one area, it would probably be the living room because it captures the spirit of the entire project so beautifully.
