Soon the lush fairways of PGA National Resort will once again resound with the fervent buzz of the Cognizant Classic, part of the 2024 FedExCup Regular Season, the week of February 26 – March 3.

A local fixture since 2007 and an unofficial holiday by many, the tournament is played on The Champion Course at PGA National Resort. This masterpiece was originally designed by Tom and George Fazio, with the legendary Jack Nicklaus leaving his indelible mark through multiple redesigns. During his 1990 redesign, Nicklaus created the formidable Bear Trap, a gauntlet of the par-3 15th, par-4 16th and par-3 17th holes, which consistently ranks among the most difficult three-hole stretches on the PGA Tour and provides significant drama each year.

The six-time PGA Tour winner Rickie Fowler will be making his 14th appearance this year. “As one of the most exciting players on the PGA Tour, he is a tremendous addition to our field and is sure to generate a plethora of excitement for our partners and fans during tournament week,” noted Executive Director Joie Chitwood.

Joining the field is World No. 2 Rory McIlroy. “It’s always good to come back to a tournament where you’ve won and had success before, and even better when it’s a bit of a home game,” said McIlroy. “PGA National is a great test of golf, and the fan support and incredible crowds make for an exciting atmosphere throughout the week for the players.”

This celebrated event has also profoundly impacted South Florida’s community. In 2023 alone, it distributed a record $7.2 million to over 100 children’s charities, a testament to the PGA Tour’s commitment to driving positive change.

The heart of the Classic’s philanthropy beats for The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, its primary beneficiary.
