03 Feb Home Is Where The Heart Is
by Lauren Thomas

Carol Beresford, founder of Hannah’s Home, had a dream over twenty years ago to build a safe haven for pregnant women in crisis. Hannah’s Home blossomed after she and her husband, Pastor Paul, sat together and scribbled plans on a napkin. Carol says her vision has always been “We (Hannah’s Home) want to see lives saved, hope restored, and hearts transformed.” Hannah’s Home offers a comprehensive residential program for at-risk pregnant women aged 18-30 to provide safety, stability, and support.

“For a single, isolated woman, choosing life for their baby is possibly the most frightening decision they’ll ever make. We are here to help not just one, but two lives at a time, overcome hardships and learn to live victoriously.” – Karen Hilo, Chief Executive Officer
Hannah’s Home provides private rooms for single mothers in crisis, and a range of supportive services. In addition to safe housing, residents participate in educational programs that equip them with valuable skills and knowledge. Through providing resources to the resident women, they are empowered to create better futures for themselves and their children.

“My time at Hannah’s Home so far has been lifechanging. Before I came here, I had no help or support. I’m just starting college and pursuing a career. I know that if it wasn’t for the help I’ve gotten here then none of this would be possible. The staff has been so personable to me and they make sure I have what I need so my baby and I are on the path to success.”
– Caylee, current resident.
Hannah’s Home is in the midst of a campus expansion with two additional duplex cottages, expanding their capacity by fifty percent.
“The need in our community for transformative care is extraordinary. Added housing enables us to extend our program to more women in need and grants them security, support, and access to the resources that can lift them ouf of debilitating circumstances. Our expansion – truly the entire program – relies on others who share the hope, vision, and heart for our mission.” – Karen Hilo, Chief Executive Officer.
