Architecture & Design Insights: Regency Modern in West Palm Beach

When designing a custom residence, what shapes the vision first- the client or the site?
Fortunately, this is the third home we have had the privilege of designing for this wonderful family. The goal for the property was to create clean forms with a warmer, more timeless sensibility, one that feels both elegant and restrained.

How did you take the client’s requirements and adapt them to the story the home is meant to tell?
We created a contemporary tropical modernization. A courtyard style residence that maximizes the north-south sun exposure. One that remains distinctly modern, but feels more established, elegant and responsible to the local climate.

What architectural elements define this modern interpretation of Regency-style architecture?
In plan, public and private wings are grounded in symmetry around a neoclassical garden pool. Proportions of Regency-Modern architecture, integrate Doric columns, refined drawn stucco moulding profiles, and slender steel-framed windows.

What makes the home’s arrival experience memorable?
What makes the arrival memorable is the sense of progression and discovery. Guests first arrive through a sculpture garden, where the landscape creates a moment of pause before reaching the custom designed bronze and glass entry doors. From the foyer, a view opens toward the garden pool, creating a layered sequence of landscape, architecture, and water. Each moment is carefully framed, for a dramatic arrival.

When someone experiences South Flagler for the first time, what do you hope they feel?
We hope they feel an immediate sense of calm and ease. The natural light, openness, and connection to the landscape are meant to create a feeling that is both refined and relaxed. More than anything, we want the home to invite you to slow down, gather with family and friends, and embrace the effortless indoor-outdoor rhythm that defines the Florida lifestyle.
